Footage from ca 1943-47
This is the original San Francisco College for Women, the school that that was built on the Lone Mountain hill and former cemetery in San Francisco. It was completed in 1932. In 1969, it became "Lone Mountain College" and was co-ed, and in 1978, University of San Francisco bought it and changed the name to "USF Lone Mountain Campus".
My mother attended this school and can be seen in the "weenie roast". She graduated in 1947 and went to graduate school in 1979.
When USF took over, she said they ruined the nice tables in the library. Lots of the art work including tapestries were taken down and sold, possibly to earn money for USF which was in bad financial shape at the time of the deal.
She loved this school and watching this home movie brought up nice memories, There apparently is a reunion for San Francisco College for Women in November 2012. Does anyone know about it?. Who donated this film?

Sistahs are doing it for themselves
Oh! FANTASTIC roll of film here featuring women from this college (now part of the University of San Francisco). Smart women bound down steps with books in their hands, make comments to camera, and walk off. I dunno, just their way of dress, hair, mannerisms etc was so fascinating to watch, and the quality of the film had something to do with that too as well! After this, we have a president's ball, and out come the women in lovely gowns! Very very nice! There is some kind of play for the entertainment (maybe some sort of biblical piece?) and we have more walking shots. Not a man to be found (except in the play, where I THINK I saw a man), Great stuff. A MUST SEE on this site!
